2019.11.08 NOvember

NOvember is a celebration of women in the creative fields, especially in art, music and design industry. The event is live acoustic jazz performance celebrating Diastika’s newest single, It’s OK to Say NO, dedicated to anyone who has a hard time saying “no” to something that he or she feel uncomfortable with. The release party is accompanied with an installationsupported by and in collaboration with Womxn in Design, featuring 2018-2019 Wid Bid: A Report on IdentityTheories.

Diastika Lokesworo

Diastika is an Indonesian singer-songwriter as well as an architect. Being American born and Indonesian raised, she is the product of two worlds. She thrives of the duality of both her home countries and double careers. Her music and visuals plays off of her art and passion for architecture. Dias has developed her personal music style that combines pop, RnB, and jazz. She has a Bachelor’s of Architecture from SCI-Arc and is currently finishing up her Masters at Harvard University. If you ask Dias whether she’s more of a singer or an architect, without hesitation she’d tell you she wouldn’t be one without the other.

Womxn in Design

Womxn in Design is committed to advancing gender equity in and through design. Led by womxn, but open to all, WiD works to make the design field more equitable and open in light of the historic under-representation of womxn in recognized leadership roles as well as design’s critical need for diversity, collaboration, care, and re-centering marginalized voices. Part of that involves working to increase the visibility of and transform conditions around female-identifying designers and to incorporate their experiences and knowledge into our education at the GSD. WiD offers a supportive network, a critical forum for discussion, and an open space for generally hanging out and talking about current events at the GSD and beyond. Those who do not identify as female are highly encouraged to join as well. Womxn in Design organizes around three core objectives: (1) nurturing a supportive community of care on campus, (2) creating opportunities for students’ personal and professional development, and (3) public advocacy for systemic change towards gender equity.
