This exhibit will bring together the divergent narratives of image and existence within the northernmost state. Contrasting the frequently-exported images of the Alaskan wilderness that are used to market adventure tourism and sport hunting with the highly-connected realities of daily life within the state, we will provide an immersive experience that explores the nature of urbanism in remote locations. This juxtaposition reveals the reality of Alaska as an integral part of the global economy, developing from an outpost mentality to one of a junction between political powers and resource flows.
